Floor Tile Care and Maintenance
Floor tiles are one of the easiest types of floor covering to keep clean and in good condition. The most common floor tile care and maintenance tips include:
- Cleaning - you can hoover floor tiles or use a brush to sweep up dirt and dust. The kinds of cleaning systems used on wood floors where a cloth picks up dust can also be effective here.
- Washing - all you need to do to wash your floor tiles is to wipe them over with a damp mop. Try to avoid soaking the tiles as this can cause damage as time passes. If you have some heavy grime or stubborn stains then a detergent or specialist floor cleaner will help. Avoid products that will make your floor tiles slippery to walk on however as this can be dangerous.
- Furniture - furniture that rests on floor tiles can scratch them or leave indentations so try to use furniture protectors where you can to avoid problems here.
- Cleaning grout - over time you may find that your grouting looks dirty and/or discoloured. White grout can be cleaned with a solution of bleach and water although keep bleach to a minimum as it can damage the grout itself. Coloured grout shouldn't be cleaned this way as the bleach will remove the colour.
Regular cleaning and washing is a good way to make sure that your floor tiles stay looking clean and are problem free.
